GM Garrett Gee comes from a distinguished line of philosophers, military and martial excellence.  He is the direct descendent in a family that has consistently studied and taught martial art disciplines for centuries to professional military officers and royal family members of China's greatest dynasties. He has always been well received in China, in part because he is the 33rd generation/descendent of Zhū Xī/Chu Hsi (朱熹) philosopher.

GM Garrett  Gee began his martial art training at age five under his father, GM Peter kim Ho Chun, and later received fulll training in Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun Kuen in China.  He was the first disciple outside of the founding family to learn this martial science.  GM Garrett Gee is the eighth -generation successor of Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun, and the first to bring the system to the public.

In 1999 a chapter of the book “Complete Wing Chun” was reserved for GM Gee’s lineage.  At the time of the writing he referred this system as “Hung Suen Wing Chun”, in remembrance of Hung Fa Yi’s founder, Cheung Ng, nicknamed Tan Sau Ng, as well as the name Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun was never publicly revealed until the year 2000.

Since 2000, GM Gee has dedicated his life’s work to spreading Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun system across the world.

In January 2001, GM Gee was inducted into Action Martial Arts Publication Hall of Fame as Martial Artist of the Year in Chinese Martial Arts.

On October 2003, together with Sifu Benny Meng and Richard Loewenhagen, authored one of the best selling martial arts book “Mastering Kung Fu: Shaolin Wing Chun."

GM Garrett Gee was nominated into the 2004 United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame by Grandmaster Edward Badiang. The United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame Director, Selection Committee and the Grandmasters Council has personally approved Grandmaster Gee’s nomination as “Grandmaster of the Year”. The martial arts community continues to recognize the contributions that he has made.

There are several Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun locations within the United States, Arizona, San Francisco being its Headquarter, Ireland and Brazil. GM Gee works tirelessly to preserve, protect, and promote the system for future generations to come.
